What is Private Health Insurance?
All Israeli citizens are insured with the state health insurance and can extend it to the supplementary plans of the health funds (SHABAN – additional health services).
These coverages are sufficient for us for day to day needs, but if we are dealing with a complex medical event such as surgery, transplantation or other special treatment, the response of state health insurance is not always sufficient. Waiting weeks and even months for a specialist doctor’s examination, diagnostic tests such as MRI or CT, surgery without the option of choosing the surgeon (assuming that in the perfect framework you can choose a surgeon who works with the fund) and purchasing drugs at a cost of tens of thousands of NIS that are not included in the health basket – these are some examples of difficult situations that a private policy can prevent.
Private health insurance guarantees you wide and comprehensive coverage for medical treatments such as surgery in Israel or transplant; Insured persons will have the right to receive them in a private setting that is independent of the public health system.
